Poetry credits

Haiku and verse on this site are drawn from the canonical Japanese tradition. Each poem is in the public domain. Translations adapted by the daisu team in the tradition of R.H. Blyth, Robert Hass, and Harold G. Henderson — corrections welcome.

The wordmark "大 daisu" takes 大 (dai / great) as an affectionate prefix echoing 大好き (daisuki, "beloved"). The palette draws on sumi ink and lacquer gold as a nod to Japanese ceramic tradition. This site was designed by a non-Japanese team with respect for the tradition — suggestions and corrections welcome.
